We recently visited Toronto and had the opportunity to use the subway for some of our sightseeing.
The Toronto subway stations reminded me somewhat of the NYC subway stations in that they vary widely from mosaic station names on the walls to mosaic art on the walls to sleek and modern walls.
Nonetheless the stations had their own style independent of anything I’ve seen in other metros. Some of my favorite stations struck me as having a mod, 1950s look to them. And after a quick visit to Wikipedia to find out when the subway system opened, guess what I found out? The line we rode, Yonge-University-Spadina, opened in 1954. :)
